Auto Tips by Stephen Krausch, Licensed Class A Mechanic

It's winter time, and time to do the winter preparations for your vehicle. This is what we would recommend:

  • For winter tires, check tire pressure to the manufacturer's specification.
  • Check anti-freeze to make sure that it's correct for the winter temperatures.
  • Always purchase premium quality windshield washer fluid, and make sure you have extra available at all times. Leave it in a plastic bag or storage container in case of leakage.
  • Change oil as per manufacturer's specification. For extreme usage, or if you are idling frequently, then replace earlier.
  • Check the charging system (including batteries, alternator, starter, electrical) to make sure that all is in order as per manufacturer's specification.
  • Check your automobile service history to make sure you are up to date.

If you follow these recommendations, you can have confidence in your vehicle throughout the winter months. Drive carefully.
